A slight case of cabin fever has sparked thoughts of freshly painted walls, brighter colors or some amount of blue for our living room, and at least one pair of pants that are not black, beige, or denim. Which one of those I’ll tackle first, I cannot say, but one of my favorite things to do this time of year is visit the Pantone website to peruse spring color trends. If you’re not having pangs of spring yet, you will soon. When it happens, here’s where you’ll want to head first…
It’s January, but Spring 2013 has sprung. Long before those of us in the northern hemisphere began enjoying our first pot of hearty, homemade soup in autumn or a long winter’s nap, the color gurus at Pantone, the world-renowned authority on color, have been working to bring a beautiful palette of spring colors to designers and production professionals around the globe. Graciously, they share many resources and the stories behind color trend development on their website. So, if you are considering a special event, a little shopping to pique your senses out of a frosty state of being, or simply curious about the color spectrum that is fresh and on the horizon, here’s a video from the Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, Leatrice Eiseman, talking about fashion colors for Spring 2013.
Those looking forward to home design decisions, planning creative artistic endeavors, or just wanting to buy a few pieces to perk up a wardrobe or room will want to check out Pantone’s Fashion Color Report Spring 2013. Notable designers and fashion influencers offer aspects of color nuances helpful in developing a pleasing, harmonious project and for essential pondering prior to investing your time and finances. And, it’s just plain interesting to get a behind the scenes glimpse of how trending color palettes make their way through design and production, retail product buyer’s decisions, and finally to the places where we shop and live.
Ever wonder how particular color trends and preferences can be consistent in appearance whether you’re seeing them in graphic designs, textiles, cosmetics, industrial designs, and so on? In this short video you’ll see a rare behind-the-scenes look at Pantone and the development of the new PANTONE PLUS SERIES, the next generation of the PANTONE MATCHING SYSTEM. It’s fascinating, I hope you’ll check it out.
